Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from North East Delhi, Professor Anand Kumar was upbeat about his chances of victory by a huge margin against his challengers. Talking to Millennium Post he said that BJP and Congress have nothing to deliver and voters will support AAP. He said that Congress is no more in competition, while BJP is relying on Manoj Tiwari, a ‘parachute candidate’ who does not have any vision.
He said that North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, despite being an integral part of the national capital, is in the worst possible condition, as compared to other backward areas in the country. ‘The Trans-Yamuna area is more famous for its dirty nallahs and poor sanitation condition than its people. There is a Gokalpuri drain also known as Seelampur nallah in the area, which is desperate need of desperate repair’.
He said that Tiwari did not have any solution to the constituency’s problems. ‘Tiwari is being fielded by the BJP to attract people from the Purvanchal community, though he does not have the courage to oppose Shiv Sena, who in the past had often beaten up north Indian migrants in Mumbai. He also raised questions over his political ideology.Â
Anand’s blockbuster manifesto point was the promise to set up an East Campus on the lines of North and South campuses of Delhi University. Establishing primary schools and regularisation of unauthorised colonies are other key points on his agenda for the constituency.
‘A total of Rs. 125 crore meant for development of this constituency remained unutilised during the tenure of past MPs and it was sent back to the Centre. This should come back,’ said Kumar, adding that there is leadership deficit, which amounts to a deficit in governance.
