Strongly condemning the unprovoked killing of two Indian soldiers by Pakistan army, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said there is a need to draw a red line and stressed on the need for enforcing the Vajpayee-Musharraf accord as the basis for any engagement with Islamabad.
Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said the brutal killing of the Indian personnel was intended to sour the environment and disturb relations between the two countries.
‘This attack is also warning to India, a warning that in dealing with Pakistan is now extremely important that government of India clearly define the red lines,’ Jaitley said. The BJP leader added that the manner in which the two soldiers were killed shows the real design of Pakistan behind this attack.
‘Since Pakistan still continues to give denial, the government of India should collect the evidence, including identity of those Pakistani army officials and the groups guarding the particular area who are responsible for this assault, and place all these facts before the international community so that Pakistan can be named and shamed before the world at large for this brutal attack,’ Jaitley said.
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj telephoned National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon and emphasised on the need to take the issue seriously. The main opposition said in the face of Pakistan denying involvement of its troops, all evidence must be collected, the platoons involved identified and these facts be presented to the international community. Jaitley asked the government to clearly define the dos and don’ts in relations with the neighbouring nation.
BJP’s spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad what the Pakistan army has done is inhuman and barbaric.
‘This is a part of a pattern, there is firing and attack along the ceasefire line to give cover to the terrorists to come in,’ Prasad said.
