With an aim to woo voters ahead of the Delhi assembly polls, BJP has come out with a special bus in Mehrauli in south Delhi, installed with an LCD TV, which will screen a short film highlighting development works undertaken in the constituency and seek suggestion from voters.
“Mission Mehrauli” bus will stop at 300 halting points in the area every day and will screen a 10-minute film on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development work done in the constituency, BJP Councillor Kusum Khatri said.
The short-film will be screened on an LCD TV installed in the vehicle and in one session 50 persons can watch the film, Khatri said. “Mission Mehrauli bus has been launched as part of party’s membership drive,” she said, adding, the target is of enrolling 25,000 new members to BJP from the constituency.
Khatri said they will also seek suggestions from people on how to develop Mehrauli.
Delhi BJP also recently started seeking suggestions from the people to prepare its manifesto for the forthcoming Assembly elections by launching its website.
There are around 1.60 lakh voters in the constituency, including 60,000 Jaat voters, who will a play vital role in deciding the fate of the candidates. Incumbent BJP MP from West Delhi, Parvesh Verma was elected from the constituency in the last Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, few days back, former Delhi Speaker and Senior Congress leader Yoganand Shastri has written to Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung, alleging that development works have been stopped at Mehrauli constituency in the last one year.
According to Shastri, Rs 202 crore was sanctioned for construction of four reservoirs and laying of all new water pipelines but only 60 per cent work done in reservoirs and just few pipelines chaanged so far.
Former Delhi Assembly speaker Shastri has also demanded a vigilance enquiry of a proposal to construct road Mehrauli Bus stand to Qutab Red Light as the work was stopped in the midway.
