Binny stumped in AAP crackdown

A letter to the same end has been sent to Vinod Kumar Binny.

‘We have given several chances to Binny to rectify his mistakes and ignored his anti-party activities but he has left no option for us but to take this action against him. It seems that he had a clear agenda against our party which forced us to expel him from AAP,’ Iliyas Azmi, member of the five-member disciplinary action committee that was constituted to look into the issue, told Millennium Post over the phone.

When asked about the timing of Binny’s expulsion, Azmi said, ‘Binny has been living here in Delhi for years but he starts noticing all the problems only after AAP came to power. He is free to do what he wants and we have done what we should have done earlier.’ Binny was to undertake an indefinite fast against the party since he feels that the party has drifted away from its agenda after coming to power.

When asked about any possible threat to the Delhi government as a repercussion of the action, Azmi said, ‘We don’t care about the government. We only care about the people.’ However, he further said that if Binny apologises to the party for his anti-party activities then the party can reconsider the expulsion.

Earlier, Binny had announced that he would go on an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar from Monday in protest against the path taken by the party. He had also called Kerjiwal a dictator. AAP had constituted a five-member disciplinary action committee to look into the issue on 19 January which recommended Sunday’s expulsion. Binny, who has accused his own government of cheating people, has however, maintained that he would not join any other political party, including the BJP and the Congress.

‘I will stay in AAP and talk about party’s policies and points. If AAP sacks me, I will still demand implementation of its policies,’ he said. He has alleged that AAP took decisions behind closed doors, but posed before the people as if these decisions were taken before the people.

Binny had also met Anna Hazare in Ralegan Siddhi on 19 January after making his differences with the party public. The details of the meeting were never disclosed to the media.
