Delhi Jal Board plans to reduce the current billing cycle from April, 2014, to 60 days. This move is expected to help DJB bring down the existing billing cycle from 90 days to 60 days, thereby avoiding unnecessary hassles for the consumer.
Delhi Jal Board spokesperson cited that this would provide much convenience to the consumers and also eliminate chances of anomalies in the bills by better monitoring.
The spokesperson further elaborated that the board regularly issues schemes and takes measures in order to bring about efficiency and transparency in the system, and also to provide better services to the residents of Delhi.
For the convenience of the consumers, DJB will also bring about changes in the billing process. From April, 2014, hand held devices shall be used to generate on-the-spot bills. It also proposed to extend the collection of payment through cheques, after the bill is generated.
The customer will also be provided with the payment receipt, after it is made. At present, 12 zones are covered and from April, 2014, this facility will be extended to the entire city. This shall make the billing and payment process more efficient for the residents of Delhi.
The Delhi Jal Board has extended many of its services online for the convenience and benefit of consumers. Also, online facilities are available for viewing and payment of bills. Application for new water connection, disconnection and mutation can now be made online. The consumers will also be able to lodge their grievances and track the status online. DJB has also set-up a Customer Care Centre for consumers to register their complaints on the following phone number: 011-23612222.
