Bike rams into police barricade, cop sustains injuries

During the wee hours of Sunday, a Delhi Police Assistant Sub-Inspector received critical injuries after a speeding motorcycle rammed into a barricade in New Delhi area.

The incident took place on Janpath Road-Rajendra Prasad crossing. Ramnivas, the ASI is posted at the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi. At the time of the incident, Ramnivas along with two other policemen <g data-gr-id="34">were</g> posted at the check post. All the three policemen noticed two young men riding on a motorcycle are heading towards them. The rider was driving the <g data-gr-id="36">motor bike</g> very rash and at a high speed.

The victim policemen told police that they signalled them to <g data-gr-id="32">stop</g> but they were not showing any gesture that they would stop the bike. In a bid to stop them, two policemen blocked their path. The driver then steered the vehicle towards Ramnivas who was standing near the barricade.

“Ramnivas tried to run for cover, but the motorcycle rammed into the barricades. The barricade hit him on his legs, causing him to fall down. The motorcyclists also fell down, but they immediately got up and managed to ride away before the other two policemen could apprehend them,” police said
One of the two policemen then called the police control room (PCR) number for assistance and Ramnivas was rushed to the RML Hospital. 

The police are searching for the <g data-gr-id="37">motorcylists</g>. A case of rash driving and causing hurt has been registered at the Parliament Street police station based on the victim’s statement after he was treated at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in New Delhi. He sustained injuries to both his <g data-gr-id="25">legs,</g> but is reportedly out of danger.
