Woman, daughter murdered in Paschim Vihar

New Delhi: A 65-year-old woman along with her 40-year-old unmarried daughter were found murdered at their residence at Miyawali in Paschim Vihar, Outer Delhi. The police found the body of 65-year-old Shashi Talwar in the kitchen while the body of her daughter, Nidhi, was on the bed in the drawing room of their ground floor flat.

Shashi Talwar had been attacked with a sharp weapon on her neck. The police received a call at around 10 am on Saturday when the victims' housemaid, Sumitra, found them murdered when she went to work. She also told the cops that earlier on Friday, no one had opened the door despite repeated knocking.

"The daughter was suffering from cerebral palsy… she was smothered," said a senior police officer. "It seems that there was a friendly entry; the house has been ransacked a little but we suspect that this could have been done to mislead investigators as the woman's jewellery was intact," said DCP (Outer) Seju P Kuruvilla.

The murdered woman's husband, who was an engineer, died in 2013 of a heart attack. The couple's two sons Abhay and Vishal live in Canada and Mumbai respectively.

Vishal flew to Delhi after hearing about the incident and the police are probing every possible angle in the crime.
