Two women found murdered in Ashok Nagar, one held

New Delhi: An executive with an event management company and her daughter were found murdered inside their flat in the Ashok Nagar area of East Delhi on Monday morning. Police have arrested one person in the case who was known to one of the deceased.

Victims have been identified as Sumita (45) and her daughter Samrita (25), who was undergoing training in the hospitality sector. Police have registered a murder case at the Ashok Nagar Police Station.

According to police, they were alerted in the early morning by the deceased's maid, who has a duplicate key of the flat where the victims were living. "In the morning when she opened the door she saw both the women lying in the pool of blood," an investigator said. Severely stabbed bodies of both the victims were found in separate rooms.

According to investigators, various clues were found after analysing the CCTV footage and local intelligence. "Coordination was developed with Rajasthan police by the team of East district," police said. Later they found the role of one Vinay alias Vikrant Nagar.

Later Vinay was apprehended with the help of Rajasthan police. The bus in which the accused was escaping to Jaipur was intercepted by a team of SP Jaipur Rural Shankar Dutt. "After the interrogation of accused, further investigation will be carried out," police said.
