Two bikers fall off Barapulla flyover after accident, 1 dead

NEW DELHI: In an accident on the Barapulla flyover over the DND-Ashram crossing in Delhi, two men riding a bike fell off the bridge on Saturday evening, in which one of them died while his cousin suffered severe injuries.

Rohit Makol (36) and his brother Pradeep were riding a scooter when the accident happened.

While Makol was pronounced brought dead, Pradeep, who was riding pillion on the two-wheeler was seriously injured and is being treated at the AIIMS Trauma Centre and is stated to be critical.

Police are not clear if the bike was hit by a speeding vehicle on the flyover which resulted in the tragic accident.

Locals spotted a damaged two-wheeler and a broken helmet on the flyover when they spotted the two men lying under the flyover who had fallen down the bridge.

"The deceased, identified as Rohit Makol, aged 36 years, was a resident of Delhi's Tilak Nagar and the injured person, identified as Pradeep, is a cousin of the deceased. He was from Karnal. Both were into private jobs," said a senior police officer.

A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code at Sunlight Colony police station has been registered and further investigations are underway.
