Kolkata: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from an election rally, termed Humayun Kabir’s purported videos “AI-generated”, Trinamool Congress (TMC) slammed Modi in strong words, calling him the “spokesperson” of Humayun Kabir’s party.

“PM Modi becomes spokesperson for Kabir as he defended the latter and said the viral videos where Humayun Kabir talks about a 1000-crore deal, taking reference to several BJP leaders and PMO, were AI-generated. The way Modi is defending, it suggests that there must be something in the deal. As the PMO is involved, Modi got scared,” Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said during a press conference. Ghosh also demanded a Court-monitored investigation in counter to Modi’s AI claims.

“BJP is up for a sinister game in Bengal. Amit Shah wants to send people of Bengal to Bangladesh. Shah clearly said they will DETECT, DELETE, and DEPORT. After deleting the names, Modi and his netas have started calling those whose names have been deleted as traitors. They now want to shut down all the services and government facilities of those whose names have been deleted. Later, they will deport all 90 lakh people, including 58 lakh Hindus, to Bangladesh,” he added.

Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien on Saturday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his promise of a ‘white paper’ on corruption in West Bengal, saying nine of 10 Opposition leaders facing corruption investigation who joined the BJP “got reprieve”.

In a post on X, O’Brien shared a “fact-check” of the claims made by Modi at a poll rally in West Bengal’s Katwa in Purba Bardhaman district. “Another election speech by Narendra today. Once more, let’s expose his 8 claims and present an 8-point reality check,” O’Brien said. Countering Modi’s claims about governance in West Bengal, O’Brien said that the TMC government had lifted “two crore people out of poverty”, reduced unemployment, and launched multiple welfare schemes. He also highlighted initiatives such as ‘Duare Sarkar camps’ and social assistance programmes, asserting that crores of beneficiaries had received services at their doorstep.
