Stalin hails PM's remarks on Tamil language, urges him to make it as official language in HC

Chennai: Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks that Tamil was the oldest language than Sanskrit, Leader of the Opposition and DMK Working President M K Stalin urged him to declare it as the official language of the Centre and in the Madras High Court.
In a tweet, Mr Stalin said he welcomed Mr Modi's views that Tamil was the oldest language than Sanskrit.
'If his remarks based on better understanding of the Tamil language is true to his conscience, he should announce Tamil as the official language of the Centre and in the Madras High Court', he added.
'Similarly, Mr Modi should allocate funds for Tamil development on par with those allotted for Sanskrit and declare Thirukkural, penned by Saint poet Thiruvalluvar, as a National book', he added.
