SC extends deadline for publication of Assam NRC to August 31

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the deadline for publication of the final National Register of Citizen (NRC) for Assam by a month to August 31. The apex court had fixed July 31 for publication of the final consolidated NRC.

However, it declined the prayer of the Centre and Assam government seeking 20 per cent sample re-verification of names included in the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the districts bordering Bangladesh.
