Pub brawl turns ugly; DJ stabs gym owner to death

New Delhi: A disc jockey in a fit of rage murdered a 30-year-old gym owner at a bar in Punjabi Bagh after he got into a verbal duel with him over playing his favourite songs. The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday when Vijaydeep was celebrating with nine friends at the 'Raftaar' Bar in Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi. Vijaydeep Singh Saggu succumbed to the knife injuries inflicted by DJ Deepak. "While dancing, Vijaydeep asked the DJ, Deepak, to play a song he liked. Deepak refused, and Vijaydeep got into a scuffle with him," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said.
During the fight, Deepak's laptop fell. In a fit of rage, the DJ killed Vijaydeep and also smashed a beer bottle on his lady friend's head when she tried to intervene. She was admitted to a hospital. Vijaydeep was a fitness freak and resident of Tilak Nagar and owner of 'D Transformation gym' in west Delhi's Vishnu Garden.
The deceased and his friends were celebrating a common friends birthday at the third floor of the bar. The DJ was playing on the fourth floor. Vijaydeep was not happy with the songs being played . He then approached the DJ, and the duo got into a scuffle. The matter escalated so much that DJ Deepak got a butter knife from the kitchen and attacked Vijaydeep. He was then rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. Before the police teams reached, DJ Deepak fled from the spot. Soon the cops got his address and moved to Sant Nagar in Burari where he was hiding. He was booked under section 302 of IPC. "Our teams finally arrested him from Sant Nagar Burari and the murder weapon used in the commission of the crime has been recovered. The police are also now examining the CCTV footage of the bar to know if anyone else was involved in the murder including the bouncers of the bar.
