Party will decide my successor: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: With Rahul Gandhi sticking to his stand, the speculation over his continuation as party chief is over. Making it clear, Rahul said that he would not be involved in the process of the selection of the new party chief and it's his party that will decide on who his successor will be and not him.
However, as per party insiders, senior party leaders are still reluctant to step into his shoes. "The names of some of the senior leaders such as Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Anand Sharma, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Sachin Pilot are doing the rounds, but it will take some time to get the issue resolved as most of the leaders are 'refusing' to head the party," the party insiders said.
Explaining the reasons behind their reluctance, the party insider said, "The prime reason is acceptability as the Gandhi family is easily acceptable while the same is not the case with any other Congress leader. "
