Parrikar unwell, flies back to US for treatment
Panaji/ Mumbai: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai, flew to the USA on Wednesday evening for further medical treatment as he has developed "some complications", state Assembly Speaker Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday. "Some complications have developed due to which Parrikar is going to the USA for treatment. His condition is stable and we need not worry," he said.
Sawant said that the chief minister was expected to be back in Goa in a week. Earlier this year, Parrikar underwent treatment in the USA for three months for a pancreatic ailment and returned in June. He went there again for a follow-up earlier this month. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for a review health check-up on August 23, a day after he returned from the USA, and was scheduled to return to Goa on Wednesday.
"The official charge of the post of chief minister will remain with him (Parrikar)" said a senior CMO official.
