Mobile phone services in five districts of Jammu region restored

Jammu: Mobile phone services which were snapped across Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 have been resumed in five districts of Jammu region. The services have been resumed in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch.

Communication channels were suspended in J&K in wake of the revocation of Article 370.

Earlier on August 17, following days of restrictions, mobile internet services were restored in five districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 2G mobile internet services were restored in Jammu, Reasi, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts of the region.

On suspension of communication channels across Jammu and Kashmir region, the government said that it will lift restrictions in a phased and gradual manner.

On Wednesday, in a massive decision to tackle unemployment, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik announced that the Centre would, in the next two to three months, create 50,000 government jobs for the people of the region.

Stressing that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Valley, was under control since there has been no loss of life and property in the region after the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35(A), the Governor said the move was undertaken to ensure the complete integration of the former state with India.

He also announced that 50 colleges — along with institutions specifically for female students — will be opened in the Union Territory to improve the educational environment in the state.

"Around 3,000 primary and 1,000 middle schools are open in Jammu and Kashmir. In Ladakh, all the schools and colleges are also functioning normally," said Malik.
