SRINAGAR: Ahead of the much-awaited cabinet reshuffle, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has resigned.
BJP leader Kavinder Gupta will take charge as the next Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Kavinder Gupta currently holds the post of speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Mehbooba Mufti is all set to reshuffle her cabinet on Monday with the BJP expected to bring in some new faces.
Sources also claim that BJP state chief Sat Sharma along with BJP leader Ravindra Raina are likely to be induced in the council. J&K Governor N N Vohra will administer the oath of office and secrecy to those being inducted into the council of ministers at the convention centre at noon, an invitation for the ceremony read.
Speculations are rife that PDP ally BJP, besides filling up two vacancies, is likely to induct some new faces in the council of ministers by dropping others. The saffron party had on April 17 asked all its nine ministers in the PDP-BJP government in the state to submit their resignations to enable bringing in new faces in the two-year-old Mehbooba Mufti cabinet.
