India slams Pakistan for showing 'little sincerity'
NEW DELHI: On the tenth anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, India slammed Pakistan for showing 'little sincerity' in acting against the perpetrators of the dastardly attack.
In a statement, the ministry of external affairs said that the victims of the terror attack which left 166 people dead are still waiting for justice.
"The planners of 26/11 still roam the streets of Pakistan with impunity," the statement said.
The government also pointed out that even the former Prime Minister of Pakistan has in the past admitted that terrorists were sent from Pakistan's soil. "We once again call on the Government of Pakistan to give up double standards and to expeditiously bring the perpetrators of the horrific attack to justice," it added.
The government welcomed the US statement on Pakistan asking it to "uphold their UN Security Council obligations to implement sanctions against the terrorists responsible for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, including Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and its affiliates".
Friday marks the tenth anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks in which ten Pakistan-based terrorists launched coordinated attacks in various parts of the city killing 166 people.
Memorial events and wreath-laying ceremonies were organised by the state government of Maharashtra at the Police Memorial in Mumbai and the Memorial at Taj Hotel to remember the victims of the attack.
Among the victims were also foreign nationals from 14 other countries. Memorial events were also organised in Indian Missions in these countries.
PM Narendra Modi on Monday said that India would never forget the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and their perpetrators and was "waiting for the appropriate time" as the law would take its course. See inside
