Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with top officials of the state government at Nabanna soon after returning from Delhi in connection with the unrest in Raniganj and Asansol.
Sources said the Chief Minister took a stock of the situation and directed senior officers to take necessary steps so that no procession with arms takes place in near future. Directions have also been given to intensify vigil in bordering areas as mainly outsiders were behind the unrest at Raniganj and Asansol.
She also gave directions to increase police patrolling in the sensitive areas so that the situation remains under control, sources said adding that the police have also been instructed to maintain proper vigil to avoid any untoward incident during Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday.
