Delhi BJP demands Rs 50 lakh compensation for each of the victim family

New Delhi: MP Meenakshi Lekhi and other senior BJP leaders on Sunday said that said that the Arvind Kejriwal government's negligence is primarily responsible for the deaths of the workers especially the child labour employed in the Bawana Factory which went a blaze yesterday evening. has demanded that each of the victims family be given Rs 50 lakhs compensation.
Lekhi, in a press conference, said that Bawana Industrial area is a confirmed industrial area of Delhi maintained by the DSIIDC which is responsible to check for the fact that no illegal manufacturing happens in the factories situated there. Delhi Government's Labour Department is responsible to check that no child labour works in factories, it is responsible for ensuring that no explosives are manufactured in any confirmed area and it is Delhi government which is responsible to ensure that fireman have proper equipments, dresses and chemical formations to fight such fires which were missing yesterday. It is Delhi Government which is accountable to provide proper emergency medical facilities in such industrial area which were not available at Maharshi hospital last night.
In this immediate case of the factory where the fire started the North MCD had cancelled the license in February 2015 itself and how the factory was running the DSIIDC owes an explanation to the citizens of Delhi on it. Moreover as per its commitment to stay away from unnecessary documentation and licensing given to the people of Delhi before the 2012 civic elections, the North MCD had on October 6, 2015 passed a resolution and forwarded it to Delhi Government for ratification that henceforth the civic body will not issue licenses in confirmed factory areas as it has no work jurisdiction there.
Udit Raj who was in Bawana till early hours of today and visited the victims in hospitals said that it was a sorry situation to see that Doctors were trying their best to help the patients humanitarianly despite the fact that the hospitals lacked the facilities & medicines required in such cases of fire burns.
Both the Mps said that DSIIDC which is chaired by the Chief Minister and Ministers Satender Jain, Gopal Rai and Imran Hussain are primarily responsible for allowing this illegal Bawana factory to run as also for the deaths of the workers including children and for the inadequate fire and health relief work witnessed after the blaze.
