Court sends PC to Tihar till Oct 3

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's judicial custody was on Thursday extended till October 3 by a Special CBI court here, as the former Finance Minister's lawyer's argued that there were no reasonable grounds to extend the judicial custody.

Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Central Bureau of Investigation sought 14 additional days of judicial custody, while senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi submitted an application requesting for a medical examination of Chidambaram.

Mehta did not object to this, saying that the health of any inmate is of concern and the jail authorities in Tihar Jail will do whatever is permissible under the law.
