Arvind Kejriwal apologises to Nitin Gadkari and Sibal

NEW DELHI: After saying sorry to Punjab politician Bikram Majithia, Arvind Kejriwal apologised to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Kapil Sibal and his son Amit Sibal on Monday.
In 2014, CM Kejriwal had called Gadkari "one of the country's most corrupt politicians" and had been slapped with a defamation case.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday submitted a joint application in Delhi's Patiala House court seeking withdrawal of a defamation case filed by the latter, said a spokesperson of Delhi Government.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal closed the case after the Chief Minister compromised the case with Gadkari by tendering an unconditional apology to him.
"I made certain statements, without regard to its verifiability, which seem to have hurt you.I have nothing personal against you. I regret the same. Let us put the incident behind us and bring the court proceedings to a closure," Kejriwal noted.
A similar letter to Kapil Sibal and his son Amit Sibal refers to comments made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief in 2013 and says "the allegations made against you and father were unfounded".
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia explained the reasons for the apology by saying that they were not interested in any "ego fight" and don't want to spend time in legal wrangling but in service of people.
"If our remarks hurt someone, we will apologise. We will not make it a fight of ego. We are here to work for people," said Sisodia.
