The Modi factor worked for the actor-turned politician, Manoj Tiwari (43), who won from north-east constituency in Delhi with a margin of 1,44,084 votes.
Surprisingly, north-east Lok Sabha constituency that had the maximum number of Muslim voters (20%-25%) voted in favour of BJP, making Tiwari win the seat. In fact on the polling day, the constituency recorded the highest percentage of electorates all across Delhi.
The north-east constituency is well known as a Muslim-dominated area and the BJP was in a doubtful situation whether they would win or not. Thus, Tiwari was the foremost choice of the BJP because of his popularity. Soon after he was announced as a prominent face of the party, BJP put their best efforts to publicize him all over India. He was present in almost every rally carried out by the BJP all across the nation.
Speaking to Millennium Post, Tiwari in his Bhojpuri style said,’ Abki baar.. aa gai Modi Sarkar!’ ‘I am glad that people voted for me. As promised, I will call off my film projects to dedicate time to serve the people.’
‘Finally, my tanned skin and dark circles that occurred during rallies have worked for me and I played some role or the other in helping Modiji become the Prime Minister of India,’ he added in an exciting tone.
‘We have done our part, by voting for BJP. Now, it’s their turn to pay back in the form of fulfilling promises made by them,’ Shyam Krishan Aggarwal said. He was one of the eldest voters in Seelampur area. Another voter added that history is a witness that these celebrities get the maximum number of votes because of their star power but after they win, they show off their real colours by neglecting their voters.
