‘Bhel ahead in Odisha unit bidding’

State-run Bhel is reported to have emerged as the lowest bidder for supplying equipment for a 1,320 MW thermal power project to be set up in Odisha. ‘Bhel has emerged L1 (lowest bidder) for Odisha Power Generation Corporation’s 2x660 MW thermal power project at Ib valley in the state,’ a source close to the development said.

Three companies – Bhel, Larsen & Toubro and Chinese firm Dong Fang — had submitted final price bids. The Odisha state government, too, said that Bhel seemed to have emerged as the lowest bidder for the project.

‘It appears that BHEL is the winner...we have received the price bids and would evaluate other related things and then officially announce the winner on 23 November,’ the official said.

The project is being executed Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd.
