Vandalism at Moloy Ghatak’s residence: 4 constables transferred

Kolkata: Four police personnel deployed at the residence of state Law minister Moloy Ghatak have been transferred following the attack by a youth on Wednesday.

Though four new cops have been deployed, police are likely to tighten the security of Moloy’s residence when the minister will be there at home.

On Wednesday afternoon, a youth vandalised the office room of Moloy at his residence in Apcar Garden of Asansol. It was alleged that the youth was carrying a stone using which he broke the glass on the table and was also screaming.

The house guards of the minister were able to catch him before the accused could enter the main portion of the house. At that moment Moloy was not there. His wife Sudeshna Ghatak was upstairs. She came down after hearing the chaos. After the incident, cops from Asansol South Police Station and senior officers of the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate, including the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Central, Dhruba Das visited the minister’s residence for investigation.

Later, four constables who were there as house guards were removed. It was learnt that the youth identified as Vicky Keora was interrogated by the cops but no fruitful answer was received. His family members reportedly claimed that Vicky is mentally challenged.
