Trinamool councillor plans to step down from Falakata Municipality chairman post owing to illness

Trinamool councillor and retired high school teacher, Pradeep Muhuri, is planning to resign from the post of chairman of the newly-formed municipality of Falakata in Alipurduar owing to physical illness. While he has not officially submitted his resignation letter, Pradeep Muhuri has already communicated his decision in writing to the party’s district president, Prakash Chik Baraik, Falakata Town Block Trinamool Congress president, Shubhabrata Dey and Falakata gramin Block Trinamool Congress president, Subhash Chandra Roy.

Pradeep Muhuri, a former teacher known for his clean image, explained: ‘I was diagnosed with diabetes after assuming the chairman’s post. I am also facing problems with blood pressure. As a result, it is no longer possible for me to do justice to such an important post owing to my physical constraints. I am not leaving the party or my councillor post. However, I have asked the party to relieve me from the position of chairman.”

Alipurduar district president of Trinamool Congress, Prakash Chik Baraik, responded: “I have heard about the matter, but I have not received the written letter yet. I will talk to Pradeep Muhuri about this.”
