Trinamool Congress accuses BJP of plotting Kaliachak violence
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Thursday alleged that the Kaliachak incident was orchestrated in a pre-planned manner only to suit the political narrative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was looking for an issue to target Bengal.
The ruling party claimed that it was the BJP who “plotted” the incident with the help of its “B-team” or “C-team” apparently referring to other Opposition parties in Bengal. “The BJP plotted the whole incident while its B-team and C-team instigated the people. Two political evil powers inspired by the BJP instigated the people to create trouble and earn Bengal a bad name,” said TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh during a press conference.
“We are fighting an electoral battle peacefully and democratically. The Kaliachak incident was plotted by the BJP as they aimed to trigger trouble. Our party supremo and Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has also given a statement that she never supports such incidents. But the law and order situation is not in her hands. She also urged the people not to fall into the BJP’s trap. The Election Commission of India, which is assigned to carry out the polls, has turned into a slave of the BJP,” Ghosh said.
Ghosh also clarified that TMC condemns the incident that happened in Kaliachak. He also blamed the BJP for the entire incident. Incidentally, seven judicial officers were held hostage for over nine hours in West Bengal’s Malda district on Wednesday by a group of voters whose names were deleted from the voter list during the Special Intensive Revision.
The officers, including three women, were gheraoed. Around 1 am today, a massive contingent of police and paramilitary personnel removed the protesters, rescued the judicial officers and moved them to a safe location.
