Traffic regulations in city for Republic Day parade rehearsal

Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic Police have announced that traffic, including all classes of vehicles and pedestrian movement, will be regulated across the city on January 24 for the Real-Time Final Dress Rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade and on January 26 for the Republic Day Parade.
To ensure public safety and prevent disruptions, several thoroughfares surrounding the Kolkata Maidan and adjoining areas will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:30 am till noon on January 24. These include Hospital Road, Lovers Lane, Queensway, Casuarina Avenue, Khidderpore Road, Red Road and the southern flank of RR Avenue between Government Place East and Government Place West. Additionally, traffic bound for BBD Bag and southbound vehicles on Red Road approaching from Howrah will be diverted. Red Road will be closed to all vehicular movement from 10 pm on January 25 until the parade is over on January 26. Several roads, including Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road), Hospital Road, Lovers Lane, Casuarina Avenue, Dufferin Road, Khidderpore Road from Ghora Pass to J & N Island (except bridge-bound vehicles and AJC ramp vehicles), RR Avenue between Y Road Tram Track and Government Place West and Outram Road, will also be closed to vehicular traffic from 5:30 am until the parade is over on January 26.
Vehicles belonging to Republic Day Parade participants will be allowed entry only through Queensway from the crossing of Queensway and Cathedral Road.
Parking will be prohibited on certain roads from 5:30 am until the parade is over. However, participants may park their personal vehicles on the western side of Chowringhee Road between AJC Bose Road and Shakespeare Sarani.
Furthermore, the bus stand on the eastern side of Strand Road alongside Band Stand, Eden Gardens, will be shifted to the western side of Strand Road, opposite Band Stand, from 5:30 am to 1 pm and on Kiran Sankar Roy Road.
