TMC takes a jibe at PM Modi’s foreign trips amid spiralling cost of commodities

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) youth leader Debangshu Bhattacharjee on Sunday took a potshot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and mocked the latter’s frequent foreign trips amid escalation prices of commodities.

Bhattacharjee said: “PM loves to conduct trips. If he had tried, he could have visited the moon in the Chandrayaan -3. On his return, we could have asked if he could see ‘Achhe Din’ for the people in the country from the moon.” Incidentally, Modi recently visited France.

Debangshu who is active on social media often criticizes the Opposition parties like BJP and CPI(M) on his social networking sites.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had recently successfully launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission, its second attempt at a soft landing on the Lunar surface. The LVM3 rocket took off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during his recent public meeting also attacked PM Modi on several issues which include foreign trips. “People kept dying while standing in queues, whereas you keep travelling to Australia, America, and London and having fun. Is this ‘Achche Din’ that people were promised?” Banerjee had said.

Abhishek on a number of occasions attacked Modi over the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 currency notes, saying the next time people queue up, it will be to oust PM Modi.

Abhishek has been a strong critic of the Modi government when it comes to policy matters. He has repeatedly raised his voice against demonetisation.

“All of a sudden, currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations were declared as illegal tender. It was due to this ‘Tughlaqi’ decision that 140 people lost their lives waiting in queues at ATM centres. Who is responsible? Now, they have announced that Rs 2,000 currency notes will be withdrawn,” Banerjee had said during a recent rally.
