TMC MLA dissatisfied over work progress at BN Bose Hospital
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA from Barrackpore Raj Chakraborty on Friday expressed his dissatisfaction over the progress of works at the Barrackpore BN Bose Hospital after the state government had allotted Rs 2.5 crore for the development of the hospital.
Chakraborty alleged that even after two years since the fund was allocated, there has not been any significant progress in the works of the hospital. Chakraborty paid a visit to the hospital on Friday and later expressed his unhappiness over the progress of work at the hospital. He also threatened to blacklist the contractor.
“Those who have received the contracts are working at a very slow pace. Poor people are inconvenienced by this. This lackadaisical attitude of the contractors is earning bad name to the government. We will not tolerate this. If the work is not carried out on a war footing from now the contractor will be blacklisted,” Chakraborty told the media.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a recent review meeting said that one contractor is undertaking multiple contracts in a specific area, sometimes by engaging subcontractors. In many cases these contractors are quitting the project even without completing it. Banerjee directed the concerned departments to immediately blacklist these contractors.
