Teenage girl kidnapped in Malda
Malda: An alleged case of kidnapping of a teenage girl, who is a Madhyamik (secondary school) examinee, has created a stir in Manikchak block of Malda.
On January 17, the girl’s parents, who had gone to English Bazar for work, returned home to find their daughter missing. Neighbours informed them that the girl had been abducted by two people on a motorcycle.
Despite filing a complaint at the Manikchak Police Station, the family alleges that no action was taken by the police. Left with no choice, the family has now approached the Superintendent of Police, Malda for help.
The girl’s parents have expressed their desire for their daughter to continue her studies and have appealed for her immediate rescue by the police.
This incident has also sparked political controversy, with the BJP accusing the state government of a complete breakdown in law and order.
In response, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Ashish Kundu strongly criticised the BJP’s remarks, stating that the party has no right to comment on women’s safety.
He assured that if there were any issues, the Trinamool would urge the police to take appropriate action.
As of now, the police have yet to recover the kidnapped girl and the family’s concern continues to grow.
