Swiggy Genie delivery boy fled with T20 tickets: Swastika Mukherjee

KOLKATA: Actor Swastika Mukherjee raised concerns about safety on social media after a Swiggy Genie delivery boy disappeared with two tickets for the India vs England T20I match at Eden Gardens, meant for her manager. The incident occurred on Tuesday, a day before the match.
“This happened to us today, and it could happen to you tomorrow,” Mukherjee wrote, resharing her manager Shristi Jain’s post. Jain told Millennium Post that she had booked Swiggy Genie on Tuesday evening to deliver the tickets from New Town Action Area 2 to Action Area 1 in Kolkata. The order, placed at 6.30 pm, initially showed the delivery partner en route. However, after an hour, the delivery partner blocked her and her partner’s numbers, stopped answering calls and falsely marked the order as delivered at 5.37 am the next morning. Expressing her disappointment, Jain said Swiggy’s customer care offered little help. “They just wanted to refund the amount, but this wasn’t about money. My father-in-law travelled from Kanpur to watch the match. He’s a huge cricket fan and we wanted him to experience Eden Gardens. Swiggy Genie’s delivery partner ruined that by vanishing with the tickets,” she said.
Jain and her partner filed a complaint at Eco Park Police Station. The police eventually caught the offender, who admitted to selling the
tickets for Rs 500. “We trusted Swiggy Genie to deliver the tickets safely, but instead, they supported a thief by not taking immediate action despite having all the details. A refund doesn’t fix this...it was about emotions, not money,” Jain said. She added that her partner requested the police to blacklist the delivery boy to prevent him from repeating such actions in the future.
Swastika expressed her shock too. “I will never trust Swiggy Genie again. We rely so much on app-based services but if delivery partners turn out to be thieves, how can we trust them anymore? This incident has made me more aware.”
