KOLKATA: They had no prior experience with fashion, ramp walks, or the spotlight, yet on Monday evening at Sister Nivedita University (SNU) in Kolkata, the students amazed everyone with their confidence, charm and individuality on the ramp. Their presence and performance were so impressive that they could easily match professional showstoppers. For the first time, the university hosted a unique event for its students – SNU Icons 2025. This remarkable initiative was presented by the SNU Centre for Corporate & Career Advancement, setting a new benchmark for student engagement and growth.

Over 100 students registered to participate in the SNU Icons 2025, out of which 20 were selected. A five-day workshop was conducted under the guidance of former Miss Universe India, Ushoshi Sengupta where these first and second-year students underwent intensive grooming. On Monday evening, these students showcased their newfound confidence and charisma in a stunning fashion show on the university campus. Unlike regular fashion shows, this workshop took a different approach to grooming. Beyond external appearances, the focus was on enhancing personality, physical fitness and mental development.

The judging panel for SNU Icons 2025 featured former Mrs India International Richa Sharma, Manoj Jangid, GM, Fairfield by Marriott, Kolkata, fashion designer Ayushman Mitra and Rituparna Sarkar, Head of SNU’s Centre for Corporate & Career Advancement.

At SNU Icon 2025, Krishna Joshi secured the top spot among the male contestants, followed by Arkadeep Mondal in second place and Sitanshu Bharati in third. Among the female participants, Farha Naz Ali claimed the first position, with Mehebuba Parveen and Tandrila Kundu taking the second and third spots, respectively. The titles of Mr and Miss Personality went to Krishna Joshi and Farha Naz Ali, while Mr and Miss Congeniality were awarded to Sitanshu Bharati and Monami Nandi. The Mr and Miss Talented titles were won by Arkadeep Mondal and Pratima Joshi and Mr and Miss Eloquent were Jidan Haque and Grace Andrew.
