Speeding car topples on EM Bypass
Kolkata: Just within 24 hours of the accident in Burrabazar that claimed the life of an elderly woman, a speeding car toppled on the Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass near Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan on Saturday around 8:15 am.
According to sources, a car moving towards Parama Island at a high speed lost control while passing through the Kadapara area and rammed into a lamp post in front of the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan. The impact of the collision was so strong that the lamp post was damaged and the car toppled.
The traffic cops on duty spotted the accident and rescued the driver and the co-passenger. They were rushed to a local hospital from where they were discharged after necessary treatment. It is suspected that the driver in a drunken condition. It may be mentioned that on Friday, a minibus ran over four women, killing one.
