Siliguri: Siliguri Boys’ High School emerged champions of the SIT Challengers Cup 2026, defeating Techno India Group Public School (TIGPS) via the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method in a rain-affected final.

Organised by the Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), the tournament showcased intense competition among leading schools from across North Bengal. Modi Public School began strongly with a 71-run win over St. Joseph’s School, while TIGPS defeated Birla Divya Jyoti by 7 wickets, thanks to a solid knock by Ratnadeep Sarkar.

In the quarter-finals, Siliguri Boys’ High School dominated DPS Dagapur, posting 197 runs and securing a massive 142-run victory. Anish Sharma’s quickfire 40 and Akash Tarafdar’s all-round brilliance stood out. HB Vidyapith also advanced after defeating APS Sukna.

Rain disrupted the semi-finals, forcing a reschedule of the first clash. TIGPS comfortably entered the final by chasing down 69 runs against HB Vidyapith in just 11 overs, with Rupam Chakraborty earning Man of the Match. In the rescheduled semi-final, Siliguri Boys overwhelmed Modi Public School, scoring 235 runs and bundling them out for just 54. In the final, TIGPS struggled against disciplined bowling and were bowled out for 113 in 18 overs. Siliguri Boys raced to 56/1 in 6 overs before rain halted play. With the conditions unplayable, DLS was applied, and Siliguri Boys were declared winners by 26 runs.

Akash Tarafdar was named both Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his consistent performances.

SIT Principal Dr. Joydeep Dutta praised the overwhelming participation, stating that the tournament continues to promote sports alongside academics across the region.
