Research works: CMCH adjudged best med college in eastern India by ICMR
Kolkata: The Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) has been adjudged as the best state-run medical college in eastern India by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for its contribution in the field of medical research.
The CMCH emerged as the best medical college by securing 7 out of 10. As per the directives of the Union Health Ministry, the CMCH will host a workshop related to ICMR research for three days from December 12.
Four medical colleges in the city took part in the evaluation process that started earlier this year in Delhi.
The parameters which came into consideration include how many research works were carried out by each medical college last year, how many research works have been completed, how many research works were published in journals, if parents were received against the projects, if the Central funds were utilised properly.
The Central government has already announced that around
Rs 1.25 crore funds would be handed over to the CMCH. SSKM hospital has secured second position.
Two other medical colleges who took part in the programme are RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and NRS Medical College and Hospital.
