Renowned doctor Subrata Goswami passes away

Renowned city-based doctor, Subrata Goswami died in the city on Wednesday morning after prolonged illness.

Founder of the pain management unit in ESI Hospital Sealdah, Dr Goswami obtained a number of foreign accolades. Dr Goswami who graduated from Calcutta Medical College and Hospital prepared a guideline to check waist and leg pains. It also earned him an international reputation as a research doctor. He did his PhD on pain management from Jadavpur University.

He had been suffering from motor neurone disease. It is a rare condition that progressively damages the parts of the nervous system. The doctors’ fraternity mourned the death of Dr Goswami and expressed condolences to his family members.
