Overcast sky, drizzle in city and outskirts

Kolkata: After sporadic rainfall in the city on Saturday, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore has predicted that the temperature is likely to increase by February 19 (Sunday).
According to the MeT department, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 22 degree Celsius and a maximum temperature of 28 degree Celsius on Saturday. The minimum temperature on Saturday has increased compared to the minimum temperature on Friday, which was 19 degrees.
The temperature started rising in the rest of Bengal from Saturday. From Sunday i.e. February 19, Kolkata and adjoining areas will no longer experience any winter chill. The weather department predicted that the temperature during the day from February 19 may exceed 30 degrees Celsius. The temperature will increase by four to five degrees in the city by Tuesday.
Several districts in the state, including South and North 24 Parganas, East Medinipur witnessed sporadic rainfall on Saturday. Some districts of Kolkata and South Bengal were affected by light fog on Saturday morning and partly cloudy skies will prevail in the afternoon. Air contained 52 to 94 percent water vapour.
According to the MeT department, the specified districts will experience rainfall on Sunday as well. However, Kolkata and North and South 24-Parganas will have clear dry weather for the next four days after light rain. Meanwhile, North Bengal districts, including Darjeeling and Kalimpong, may experience light rainfall on February 19. However, districts including Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, North and South Dinajpur, and Malda will experience dry weather.
Earlier this week, the weather department had predicted an increase in temperature from Saturday onwards due to the impact of western disturbances. This disturbance has entered the north-west parts of the country and there will be a low-pressure trough in Tripura.
