Malda: One dead in clash over land feud

Malda: In a clash over land issues between two families in Jadupur area under English Bazar Police Station on Tuesday morning one Sayem Ali, 35 years, was allegedly hacked to death by two. Both the accused, Mithun and Rintu Shaikh, are relatives of the deceased and are also admitted in the MMCH having suffered injuries in the clash. The police have started an investigation into the matter.

Man arrested with 300 grams of brown sugar

Siliguri: The Special Operation Group (SOG) and NJP police arrested one Deepak Mandal of Kaliachak, Malda, for possession of 300 grams of brown sugar. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted an operation near Bishwa Bangla Shilpi Haat in Kawakhali on Tuesday, apprehending the accused on suspicion. The contraband was recovered during a search. Mandal will be produced in Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday.
