Naxalbari primary health centre to get a face-lift

The Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad is all set to give a face-lift to the Naxalbari Primary Health Center. The development work of the hospital has been started at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. The electrification work has been started with Rs 50 lakh.

On Wednesday, the Sabhadhipati of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Arun Ghosh, visited the hospital with Arindam Mandal, BDO of Naxalbari; Biplab Halder, Block Land and Land Reforms Officer; Ananda Ghosh, president of Naxalbari Panchayat Samity along with other officials. Arun Ghosh inspected all the ongoing work.

“The development work started two years ago. However the work had stopped. We have restarted the work. Still, there are many problems at the hospital. We will work on them. The entire hospital will be given a face-lift,” said Arun Ghosh.

It is learned that the walls, ceilings of the hospital are being renovated. Modern equipment will be installed there. Megalencephaly-polymicrogyria-polydactyly-hydrocephalus (MPPH) unit, a brain disorder, will be set up at the hospital. Arun Ghosh further said: “There is a lack of doctors in the hospital. We will send a letter to the State Health Department requesting them to provide doctors for the hospital.”
