Accident Claims Lives of Father and Son in Dewan Boss Area

COOCH BEHAR: A road accident in the Dewan Boss area of Folimari Gram Panchayat has claimed the lives of a father and his son. The victims have been identified as Madan Mandal (50) and his son Mridul Mandal (26), according to police sources. On Sunday morning, the father and son were returning from the market when they were struck by a sand-laden truck while crossing the road. The truck, which reportedly lost control, collided with their vehicle before running over the heads of the father and son, causing their immediate deaths. Locals have raised concerns, alleging that the poor condition of the road may have contributed to the accident. The Cooch Behar Kotwali Police have seized the truck and are currently investigating the incident.

Youth arrested on allegations of rape

SILIGURI: A youth has been arrested on allegations of raping a woman. The accused has been identified as Md. Ekramul, a resident of Phansidewa. According to the woman, on January 16, the youth, who was known to the woman, allegedly entered her house and raped her. When she screamed, the youth fled from the spot. Later, on Saturday, when the woman lodged a written complaint at the police station, he was arrested that same night. On Sunday, he was produced at Siliguri Court.
