Municipal recruitment probe: ED grills Sujit Bose’s daughter

Kolkata: State Fire and Emergency Services minister Sujit Bose’s daughter, Mohini Bose, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake in connection with the ongoing probe into alleged corruption in municipal recruitment.

This came a day after Bose’s son-in-law, Rahul Singh, appeared before the agency. Singh, who was questioned for nearly two hours on Monday, and Mohini, who faced about four hours of questioning on Tuesday, had received their summons around a week ago. Sources said the ED is seeking clarity on certain fund transfers and related documentation.

The probe stems from searches ED conducted on October 10 at a restaurant owned by Sujit Bose and his son, as well as at the residences of South Dum Dum Municipality vice-chairman Netai Dutta, a chartered accountant and a businessman. Following the searches, the minister alleged political vendetta and claimed the agency was being misused to pressure the Trinamool Congress ahead of the

2026 Assembly polls.

On January 12, 2024, ED officials had searched Bose’s two Lake Town residences and his office for nearly 12 hours in connection with the same case.
