Mamata greets people on ‘Makar Sankranti’

Kolkata: As Gangasagar Mela witnessed a huge congregation of devotees from across the country, Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday greeted the people of Bengal on the auspicious occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’. The Chief Minister on social media also wished good health to the Tamil people on Pongal. “Wishing good health, happiness and prosperity to all my Tamil brothers and sisters on the occasion of Pongal,” she said.

Following the Chief Minister’s instruction, various state government departments have ensured that the pilgrims coming to take holy dip at Gangasagar from different parts of the country do not face any inconveniences. The Chief Minister on each occasion conveys her greetings to the people, be it Pongal, Tushu and MaghBihu festivals as she believes that the strength of India lies in the diversity of our culture. She often sends the message of celebrating the spirit of unity.
