Lake Town murder case: Accused did recce of the area

Kolkata: The accused persons arrested in the Lake Town murder case reportedly made a recce of the area where the deceased Fire and Emergency Services department employee Snehasish Roy lived. Meanwhile, Akash Mallick, another accused in the murder case was arrested from the Sodepur area on Saturday. He was reportedly keeping an eye on the situation in the area before and after the murder.

According to sources, the miscreants had made a recce several times to get familiar with the location and chalk out an escape route. Also, they had followed Roy for the past two months to monitor his movements and route.

As Roy became alert after he was attacked about nine months ago and used to move through different routes, it was hard for the culprits to kill him.

Later the accused persons made a plan to kill Roy in front of his home. Though they were hired to kill Roy, the accused persons reportedly claimed that they are unaware of the actual person who gave the contract. They were contacted by people they knew in their area. On Thursday afternoon Roy was shot dead in front of his home. He had just returned home after picking up his daughter from school. When he was entering the apartment building, some unknown miscreants riding a motorcycle shot him from behind and fled.

His daughter rushed inside the house and informed her mother. Meanwhile, residents came out of their homes and found Roy lying in a pool of blood inside the passage of the building. Roy was rushed to R G Kar Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
