Kartik Sabar sets a precedent by becoming first from Shabar community to crack NET

Kartik Sabar has set a precedent by becoming the first from the Shabar community to have cracked the National Eligibility Test (NET), the results of which has been declared recently.
A resident of Ergoda Gram Panchayat under Belpahari police station area in Jhargram, Kartik is presently pursuing B.Ed from Sevayatan Sikshan Mahavidyalaya, Jhargram and is in his second year. “We have provided him with all facilities and infrastructure for his B.Ed studies free-of-cost and the yearly fees that is charged has also been completely waived, considering his financial background. He is presently lodged at the hostel of Mahavidyalaya and both his lodging and fooding is free. We are thankful to our principal Ashis Kumar Gupta for the support to Kartik,” Abu Sayeed Miah, a senior teacher of Sevayatan Sikshan Mahavidyalaya said.
Kartik, who has been excelling in his studies inspite of his social and economic background, had also cracked SET (State Eligibility Test) last year. “Kartik did his primary schooling from Ashakanthi Nimna Buniyadi Primary School. He passed Madhyamik from Joypur High school with 72 per cent marks. In 2016, he passed higher secondary from Garh Raipur High School with 86.04 per cent. He did graduation with geography from Kafgari Seva Bharati and then did masters from Vidyasagar University.
His father, Nirmal Shabar, wants his son to take up primary schooling for grooming students and spreading education among the backward Shabar community.
