Kolkata: ‘Sebaashray’, a unique health initiative by Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee, set a new benchmark by reaching out to over 2.6 lakh people in just 10 days under Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency (AC).

“Sebaashray’s UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM! By 6:30 PM today, 74,000 patients had visited the camps, reflecting the TRUST and CONFIDENCE people have placed in this initiative. Additionally, in just 10 days, #Sebaashray has served an astounding 2.6 lakh+ people from Diamond Harbour AC. Together, we shall achieve new milestones and continue making a meaningful impact,” Banerjee who is also the national general secretary of Trinamool Congress (TMC) wrote on his X handle.

Banerjee lauded the relentless efforts of every member of the medical fraternity and the dedicated volunteers for making this possible.

The initiative was rolled out on January 2 with an expectation of reaching out to 23 lakh people through health camps where doctor’s consultation and diagnostic tests are being provided free-of-cost. 40 health camps will be organised daily for 10 days in each Assembly constituency under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha. The programme concluded at Diamond Harbour AC and it will be followed in Falta, Budge Budge, Satgachia, Bishnupur, Maheshtala and Metiaburuj. In the last five days, 280-300 follow-up camps will be held across these constituencies. The camps have a dedicated desk for referral to 12 state government hospitals and there is a team for providing assistance for admission, when a patient is referred.

“Here’s to achieving many more milestones together. The journey continues and together and the momentum is unstoppable!,” Banerjee posted.
