HS Council publishes rev syllabus for another subject
Kolkata: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has published the revised syllabus for yet another subject, bringing the total number of revised subjects to 20.
The newly-revised subject is Modern Computer Application. While Computer Science is offered to science stream students, Modern Computer Application is designed for arts and commerce students.
“The previous syllabus was very easy and outdated. As the world of computers is constantly evolving, the syllabus was updated accordingly. However, we received feedback that the new syllabus had become too difficult, especially for students from non-science backgrounds who typically find mathematics challenging,” stated Chiranjib Bhattacharya, president of WBCHSE.
Bhattacharya explained that the initial changes had made the syllabus significantly more difficult, but the latest revision aims to strike a balance between quality and difficulty. Efforts have been made to reduce mathematical content as much as possible to make it more accessible for arts and commerce students.
The Council confirmed that the revised syllabus will be included in the next edition of the official syllabus book, with corresponding updates to the model question papers. However, the changes will not impact students currently preparing for the Class XI Semester-II examination and will only come into effect from the next academic year.
