HC moved for Lake PS ‘harassing’ cancer patient

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court was moved on Friday by a woman alleging she is being summoned to Lake Police Station (PS) after sunset without the presence of a lady police officer and along with a 79-year-old cancer patient who had to be brought to the station in an ambulance.

The bench of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh was moved on Friday where the petitioner’s counsel submitted that her client was summoned to appear before police after sunset without the presence of a lady officer.

It was submitted that she was summoned along with a patient, aged 79 years, suffering from four stage cancer who had to be brought in an ambulance and detained till 8 pm. Thereafter, police have again allegedly asked him to appear.

The court has taken up the matter for hearing on Monday
