Centre stopped funds for 62 schemes in Bengal: Abhishek

Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday took on the BJP-led government at the Centre on various issues calling the saffron camp a ‘virus’.
He was addressing an election rally in East Burdwan’s Baidyapur.
He said that the Narendra Modi-led Centre has waged war against the people of Bengal and it stopped all the funds to the state.
“BJP government at the Centre has halted funds for over 62 schemes in Bengal. In just the past two years, over 151 Central teams have been sent to Bengal. All those BJP leaders who are complicit in withholding your funds, this election is a referendum for their brand of politics. In the coming days, we will go to Delhi and snatch what is rightfully ours. The people need to ensure that Trinamool Congress wins the elections so that we can remind these ‘Bohiragotos’that their discriminatory politics is not welcome in Bengal,” Banerjee said.
On the price rise issue, he slammed BJP saying: “PM Modi sought your vote over the dream of providing you ‘Achche Din’. Today, cooking gas costs Rs 1,200. It is the same with kerosene, which costs Rs 120 per litre, or mustard oil, which is now selling at over Rs 220 per litre. The BJP government and PM Modi are responsible for this price rise. We need to uproot them and uproot them fast, or else they will take the country down the drain. As the protesting wrestlers were forced to drown their medals in the Ganges, people will be forced to drown their future if BJP comes to power again. BJP should be taught a lesson and should be rejected at all costs.”
“A couple of days back, PM Modi said that he is a guarantor against corruption. Yet, the day before yesterday, BJP poached NCP MLAs in Maharashtra. These leaders were being probed for corruption by the ED and CBI. This is the reality of BJP and PM Modi,” he added further.
He further stated: “Yesterday in Madhya Pradesh, we saw a BJP leader dehumanising a tribal and urinating on his face. This is the reality of BJP, who are against our Tribal community. Yet, you won’t see any NHRC or Human Rights team being rushed to Madhya Pradesh.”
Calling BJP a virus, Banerjee said: “Just like corona is a virus, and covishield is its vaccine. Similarly, BJP is a virus, and TMC and Mamata Banerjee are the vaccines. We need to make sure that we elect a candidate who would help the people.”
He added: “Let us all exercise our franchise with our heads held high. Helping TMC candidates victory will mean that in the coming days, services related to water, roads, development, health and education will be streamlined.”
Banerjee also assured that under the “Duare Sarkar” scheme, people would get services at their doorsteps in two months’ time.
