Calcutta Univ to launch portal for faster PG results

Kolkata: The Calcutta University (CU) has planned to introduce a new portal aimed at speeding up the result publication process for postgraduate (PG) students.

CU has long faced criticism over delayed result announcements, causing frustration among students and faculty. The new portal, specifically for courses other than B.A, B.Sc and B.Com, including postgraduate courses, B.Tech and LLB, aims to address these delays and ensure prompt release of results.

This initiative follows the success of a similar portal introduced for undergraduate courses in 2017, which initially served B.Com students and later expanded to include B.A and B.Sc courses by 2018. The new system is expected to streamline various aspects of the examination process, resulting in smoother and quicker publication of results.

A senior university official explained that the portal would cover the pre-examination and post-examination phases. Features will include the ability for examiners to upload answer scripts and submit marks quickly, along with provisions for rapid scrutiny once marks are entered. The system will also enable the office of controller of examinations to track all examination-related activities. Additionally, postgraduate students will be able to fill forms and download admit cards through the portal.

“We have already received approval from the syndicate and are moving ahead with the development of this platform under the vice-chancellor’s guidance,” the official said.

Calcutta University officials have confirmed the tender for the portal’s construction hasn’t been issued yet but it is expected to be released shortly.
